The survey below is not required to be completely filled out. It can be copied and pasted to the body of an email to me, or
printed, handwritten and mailed to me, scanned, or filled out in person in a meeting. Write or type YYY by the must play
songs, and NNN on the ones I should not play, even if requested.
This is a general survey and not a complete list of music I own. I own more music than there is room to list.
Add any requests you can think of to this survey, and I will follow your play lists.

Checklist: Will the venue be able to provide a banquet table for me to set up on?
Will I have access to the room at least 2 hours before guests arrive?
What does your contract with the venue state regarding the time music must end?
Do they have a deadline for having all equipment removed?
Are there rules about the volume level?
Will I be able to dim the lights for the dance, or will venue staff need to do this?
Social hour music is usually Sinatra-style jazz standards and big band for a classy, upbeat mood.
There are many options, including bluegrass covers of classic rock (look up Iron Horse for examples)
GRAND ENTRANCE: Are there any names that I'll need to learn how to pronounce?
GRAND ENTRANCE FOLLOW UP: Will someone say grace? Will there be a welcome speech?
Clinking Routine Ideas: ___Provide me with a list of other couples who will be there, so I have one of them
get up and show you how to kiss each time the guests start clinking ___Tables rise and sing a song with the
word "love" in it ___Tables rise and dance for 20 seconds to anything I play Other:________
Cake Cutting Song Ideas:
___"How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" (James Taylor) ___ "Sugar Sugar" (Archies)
___"Sugar" by Maroon 5, ____"Pour Some Sugar On Me" ____ "Yummy Yummy Yummy" or
Toast Timing: It is best to wait for all guests to have food before starting it. If I am served last, then I use that
as my cue to walk up to the head table and ask if they are ready to start. I then bring them my cordless
microphone and I go back, bring down the dinner music, and introduce the person starting the toasts using
my second microphone. Will there be a champagne pour to wait for?
Kids: Before the dance, they could be brought to the dance floor, and instead of me playing dinner music, I
turn on fun lights and play music (softly) for the kids to bounce around to.
The PRE-DANCE segment can ALSO feature these:
___Shoe Game (see video demo under the routines tab above)
___Wedding Party Dance Off
SPOTLIGHT DANCE REVERSE ORDER OPTION: Starting with the Father/Daughter, then Mother/Son, then the
Bride and Groom 3rd, in order to build interest and allow the photographer to establish the best angles
-Should I arrange the first 3 dances in this "reverse order?
How to announce your names: "Let's welcome_____________________________________________to the
dance floor for their first dance as a married couple."
Let me know the song title, artist and version of the song you'd like for your first dance.
Second and Third spotlight dances are usually a Father/Daughter then Mother/Son dance.
Mother/Son Music Ideas: "A Mother's Song" by T Carter Music, "A Mother's Prayer" by Melissa Duvall, "The
Man You've Become" by T Carter Music, and "It Happens in a Heartbeat" by Wedding Music Central.
Father/Daughter Music Ideas: "I Loved Her First" by Heartland Either or a combination F/D M/S: "The Way
You Look Tonight" "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart,
"Forever Young" by Rod Stewart. Feel free to mix up bit of fast songs in the parent dances to surprise the
After the "Spotlight" dances, I could #1 play a slow song for everyone, #2 play a fast song for the wedding
party who would go out and bring more guests to the dance floor each time I say "Snowball" #3 introduce the
photographer, get her to stand up on a ladder or chair and take a group photo on the dance floor, or #4 play
the latest upbeat hit for everyone ("Uptown Funk" has been the best dance party kick off song since it came
out, but you can go in any direction you like).
Later on, after 5 to 10 dance songs, would you like to do any of these?
____Anniversary Dance Routine:
I ask all married couples to dance-and gradually eliminate them
until the couple that has been married the longest remains on the floor. I then run out and interview the
oldest couple on the cordless microphone and ask their name, how many years they have been married and
what advice they have for the new couple.
____Bouquet Toss: After the Anniversary Dance, the dance floor is cleared, so the timing is perfect to get the
single ladies out there and toss the bouquet. I usually play Beyonce "Put a Ring on It" as they come out.
Your choice:________ (Would it be OK if the catcher of the bouquet leads a conga line around the room?)
____Garter Removal: I have a "sexy approach" routine with special music so the groom will need to try out
different songs as he walks toward the new bride so we can see his "sexy walk" - I set this up so the bride is
in a chair on one end of the floor and he starts on the opposite end. Would that be OK?
____Garter Toss: I play a TV Football theme as we gather bachelors to catch the garter. If you prefer to
auction it, I can act as auctioneer as well.
Send-off Last Song Traditions? Ideas: Piano Man, Shout, Take Me Home Country Roads Techno Version, Owl
City "When Can I See You Again?"
Are you adding any extra full-room up lights, or a monogram projection, gobo projection
(autumn leaves, snowflakes, etc), video / slide show projection, karaoke, or ceremony services?
Other uncommon add-ons: Mirror Ball on 7' Stand, Extra Speakers, 10' Truss, Fog, Bubbles
Did you hire me to do your ceremony?
If so, click on the CEREMONY tab above.
If you have more time for finer details, here are some more quick questions that are not as important:
Will the venue have a loud party going on in an adjacent room while your event is scheduled, which would
require us to turn the volume down? Would your venue allow a full hour for me to have all gear removed
after the last song? Will I be able to dim the lights in the room, or would the venue staff need to do it? Would
your photographer like to use my 500 watt par 56 spot light during your first dance? Would your
videographer need a special audio output? (I have XLR, RCA and 1/4" phone plug outputs) If you are hiring
ceremony musicians, how many channels on my mixing board would they need? (I have 3 XLR and 4 RCA or
1/4" phone plug) I offer battery powered speakers for ceremonies, and more additional items. W
Would you be bringing things for guests to use during the dance, such as glow sticks, funny hats, photo
booth props for your own selfie area, etc.? Will there be any social media info for me to announce?
