Are there any particular cities, regions, countries, continents or cultural groups with special music to mix into
the social hour, dinner music or dance?
___Take turns dancing w/the bride to "I Knew the Bride When She Used to Rock and Roll" by Nick Lowe
Venue Questions: Please look for these two items in your rental agreement:
Is there a time, such as 10PM, when the volume of the music must be reduced, for neighbors?
Does your venue lock up the doors at a particular time at the end of the night? I need at least 45 minutes from
the time music stops to be packed up. Other venue questions, such as access to the area, parking, lighting
controls could be handled between myself and the venue. Who is your contact there?______
DJ TABLE: I appreciate the venue providing a long banquet table. I have my own black cloth to cover a 10-
foot table. I can work with any size, but the larger, the better. Will they have a table for me?
SPACE: Will I be in a small area? I can adjust the set up for anything.
EXTRAS: Your contract might have options for adding things that most clients do not need unless they are in
a large room with a high ceiling. Did you add anything from the list of options?
Social hour music is usually Sinatra-style jazz standards and big band for a classy, upbeat mood.
Dinner is usually upbeat, light, solo piano playing the American Songbook.
Do you have any special music requests for social hour or dinner?
Is Social hour in an area away from where I am set up? If so, would you like to add a second sound system for
music in that area?
GRAND ENTRANCE: You can customize this however you like, but the ideal plan is to have a 5 minute warning
announcement 10 minutes before food will be ready....so that 5 minutes before food is served, the
introductions, brief welcome, and other instructions finish up just in time. I will learn to pronounce the first
and last names of all of the people you would like me to introduce. The photographer and I will line you up
and plot the path to the head table. Please send an email to email@example.com or call
952.239.4115 with the names for the Introductions. Any names that are hard to pronounce should be spelled
out the way they sound. I will read off the names as they line up before entering.
MUSIC FOR GRAND ENTRANCE:_________________________________________________________
GRAND ENTRANCE FOLLOW UP: Will there be a welcome speech? Will someone say grace? What will be the
table release instructions if it is a buffet? Will there be glass for guests to clink to get you to kiss?
Clinking Routine Ideas: ___Provide me with a list of other couples who will be there, so I have one of them
get up and show you how to kiss each time the guests start clinking ___Tables rise and sing a song with the
word "love" in it Other:________
CAKE CUTTING: Timing is usually right after toasts, but you can customize this. The photographer usually
initiates the cake cutting timing. Will your cake cutting be able to be viewed by guests?
Cake Cutting Song Ideas:
___"How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" (James Taylor) ___ "Sugar Sugar" (Archies)
___"Sugar" by Maroon 5, ____"Pour Some Sugar On Me" ____ "Yummy Yummy Yummy"
Toast Timing: It is best to wait for all guests to have food before starting it. If I am served last, then I use that
as my cue to walk up to the head table and ask if they are ready to start. I then bring them my cordless
microphone and I go back, bring down the dinner music, and introduce the person starting the toasts using
my second microphone. Will there be a champagne pour to wait for? I have TWO microphones, so I bring one
to the head table, then go back to the DJ table to introduce who will be speaking.
ORDER OF SPEECHES:_______________________________________________________
Sometimes a parent or two will make a speech before dinner- The caterers, photographers and I will need to
know in advance if there are any people who want to add a surprise pre-dinner speech.
Sometimes sunset photos change the plans. Are you leaving the reception for sunset photos?
TIME BETWEEN END OF TOASTS AND BEGINNING OF DANCE: I usually play "Cool Jazz" such as "Take 5" by
Dave Brubeck at this time, but sometimes a low-volume KIDS show fits in here. If you will have a lot of kids
playing on the dance floor after they finish eating, I have 90 minutes of activity songs such as "Baby Shark"
and the "Freeze Game" Would you like a "Pre-Dance Kids Dance?"
SHOE GAME: This is usually right before the first dance and takes only 2-3 minutes, but helps gather people
around the dance floor to be ready for the first dance. I have fine-tuned the best questions in a flow now that
gets the most laughs. I often customize with info heard during toasts or ideas you send in advance. If you
have a pet, I would like to know the name so it can be included. Let me know if you are known for having any
collections, hobbies or if you are fans of any particular sports teams.
Would you like to do the Shoe Game? _____
If not certain, should I ask you again after cake and toasts are finished, and see how you feel about using it to
gather people around just before the first dance?
How to announce your names: "Let's welcome_____________________________________________to the
dance floor for their first dance as a married couple."
Let me know the song title, artist and version of the song you'd like for your first dance.
Second and Third spotlight dances are usually a Father/Daughter then Mother/Son dance.
Would you like a special multi-song edit created in advance for any of the spotlight dances?
After the "Spotlight" dances, I could #1 play a slow song for everyone, #2 play a fast song for the wedding
party who would go out and bring more guests to the dance floor each time I say "Snowball" #3 introduce the
photographer, get her to stand up on a ladder or chair and take a group photo on the dance floor, or #4 play
the latest upbeat hit for everyone ("Uptown Funk" has been the best dance party kick off song since it came
out, but you can go in any direction you like).
Later on, after 5 to 10 dance songs, would you like to do any of these?
____Anniversary Dance Routine:
I ask all married couples to dance-and gradually eliminate them
until the couple that has been married the longest remains on the floor. I then run out and interview the
oldest couple on the cordless microphone and ask their name, how many years they have been married and
what advice they have for the new couple.
____Bouquet Toss: After the Anniversary Dance, the dance floor is cleared, so the timing is perfect to get the
single ladies out there and toss the bouquet. I play Beyonce "Put a Ring on It" as they come out.
TIP: The bouquet should be brought to the DJ table before the dance.
____Garter Removal: I have a "sexy approach" routine with special music so the groom will need to try out
different songs as he walks toward the new bride so we can see his "sexy walk" - I set this up so the bride is
in a chair on one end of the floor and he starts on the opposite end. Would that be OK?
____Garter Toss: I have fun ideas for this to discuss in our planning emails, calls and/or meetings
____Dollar Dance: Who will usher/collect?_____________________________
____Last Song of the Night: ___________________________________________
Check list of optional additional items:
____Ceremony (I can provide various packages)
____Mirror Ball on special 7-ft high stand lit from the floor below for moving dots on dance floor
____Video Projector (high power)
____Projection Screen (I have 2 sizes to pick from)
____Large wall or ceiling Image Projection (snowflakes, amber Autumn leaves, etc.)

____Full Room Mood Lighting: 16 available in combinations of blue, red, and green, but 6 of them can

____Powerhorse Inverter Generator — 3500 Surge Watts, 3000 Rated Watts, Electric Start, EPA and CARB
Compliant, Model# LC3500i (Ultra-Quiet)
____Battery-Powered Speakers (Modified for big sound: 15" bass drivers)
____9-foot Truss- black metal bars raised by two stands, 7 feet high, used to set up extra lights, shown in
some of the videos but not part of the most recent standard package- the truss cannot be set up where less
than 12 feet of space across the front of the stage is available.
____18" bass subwoofer (My standard package includes a 12" bass speaker on the floor which produces a
more tight bass sound for pumping up dancers, while the 18" provides ultra-low sounds).
____Sattelite speaker: Several venues are shaped like an L or V, so for my microphone to be heard by people
around the corner, I might need to set up a speaker system over 200 feet away, where I carefully run a cable
along the walls and tape it down if crossing a walkway. Sometimes this speaker is used outside the room for
the patio, while I perform inside with the regular system.
